My Current Fitness Routine

by hannahandfitness

During the week I recieved USA PRO‘s new Barre range and I have to say I love it! The colour, the material and the style really caught my attention. So, what do you do with new gym clothes? Photograph them! And then continue to wear them into the evening because they’re just too comfy!

Anyhow, now we’re nearing the end of the weekend and whilst there’s a few reasons to not enjoy the realisation of Monday I try to think of the positives it can bring. Such as the opportunity to start fresh, create new goals and go after them! I remember when I used to have no motivation at all a few years ago. I dreaded Monday, I done nothing for myself (apart from being lazy) and I would simply plod along with the day until it ended. Now though, it’s amazing what a driven mindset can give you… it really does turn you into a different person!

Every Sunday evening I plan my workouts for the week ahead, I meal prep my lunches (currently a big stew of mixed beans, spinach and chicken) and get in a good ol’ Sunday bake, if I’m lucky! Basically, the perfect Sunday routine to ease yourself into the week ahead.

Right now, I’m currently following Lauren Gleisberg’s Beauty & Booty Workout Challenge. It’s a weight focused challenge which pushes you harder each week. Right now, we’re on week 4 of the challenge and so far i’m loving it. Which doesn’t surprise me as I’ve done a few of Lauren’s challenges and feel they really do provide results. Here’s what my upcoming week looks like in term of workouts:

Monday – Lower Body Circuit
Tuesday – Upper Body Circuit
Wednesday – HIIT Cardio & Abs
Thursday – Lower Body Strength
Friday – Upper Body Strength
Saturday – Glute Focused Strength Workout (my own personal routine)
Sunday – Rest Day

As you can see the week is split into two different style; strength and circuits. The circuits focus on low weight/higher rep where the strength circuits see a style of high weigh/lower rep. However, due to everybody’s preferences this may be different – not everybody wants to lift heavy! But for me, that’s how I see it.

In terms of cardio I currently only do 1 HIIT & 2 LISS sessions a week as I’m currently in the middle of a bulk so cardio is not my prime focus at the moment!

Finally, a question i’m always asked… How long do I workout for? It really depends on my rest periods but usually my workouts last around 35/40 minutes. Sometimes I finish Lauren’s workouts within 30 minutes so I like to add an extra exercise on just to hit my time – but that’s just me.

So, in a nutshell there’s my fitness routine! Simple and I love it. I always say this (cause it’s true) but if I didn’t enjoy it then I simply wouldn’t do it! That’s the key, I believe, to sticking to this lifestyle. Do what you love and love what you do.
