I make no secret of my love for Nike. I think you’re either a Nike or an Adidas kind girl and I am (by far) a Nike girl. Always have been, always will be.
So when JD Women approached me to attend an event with Nike’s two new faces, Steph Elswood & Chessie King (known as Two Peas In A Bod – pictured below), I could barely give up the opportunity.
I’ve been following the girls who have become the new face of Nike for quite a while now on social media. Their energy, passion and attitude to fitness is something so refreshing and unique to see in the industry. These girls show their followers and other people within the community that fitness isn’t just about the way you look. It’s about how you treat yourself, inside and out – The exact same approach I believe in when it comes to fitness and looking after yourself.
The event itself was co-hosed by JD Women, Nike and of course, Two Peas In A Bod on Wednesday 22nd February at BLOK London in Clapton, London. Whilst the 9am event meant I had to make a measly 3:30am start to get into London, I was more than excited to attend the exclusive event which was invite only.
After what was quite a smooth journey during a tube strike day in London, I arrived at the event far earlier than I expected. Perfect, time to grab some coffee.
Despite my early arrival I was greeted ever so kindly by the JD Women team and handed a Nike gym bag full of Nike goodies. Goodies of all goodies. It was as if it was Christmas morning! Inside the bag I was kindly gifted a pair of the new Nike Flex’s (the dream), leggings, a baby pink sports bra and a vest to match. I loved the clothing itself – I knew I would. I have the similar outfit in black and it’s by far the most comfiest gym outfit I own. The clothes are light, breathable, comfy and of course, look amazing.
Once we were all changed we headed into the main studio in BLOK where the event was being held. I was welcomed by an assortment of JD Women banners and signs. I loved the urban edge to the event. We’re talking punching bags, JD neon signs, posters and a huge boxing arena located at the front of the room. It looked pretty awesome.
I knew a few girls there who all had an influencer/blogger title. Actually, what I loved most about the event was the first hour – getting to know the other girls who all had the same similar interest to me. The atmosphere in the room that morning was amazing. It was filled with like-minded individuals who all had a burning passion inside them. They understood me and when you surround yourself with positive, shining individuals who as well have an incredible drive within them, well, it’s pretty amazing. So, that first hour we bonded, we took content for our blogs/Instagrams and we got to know Steph and Chessie.
These events may include sweaty and intense workouts but damn, are they enjoyable. I’m yet to attend an event where I haven’t enjoyed myself. So whilst it may just look like a workout – it is so much more.
Once the workout started (which was Live streamed on JD Sport Facebook page), Steph and Chessie took us through a sweaty HIIT workout that was different to what I have done before. God, did it burn. Imagine burpees, push up burpess and push up burpees with a tuck. God damn that tuck. No, it wasn’t nice – but no pain, no gain, right?
After a HIIT workout that lasted roughly 20 minutes we then went onto a fun partner workout. But don’t let the word ‘fun’ fool you. The moves were testing – to say the least. The last exercise of the partner workout was a human deadlift. Uh huh, you heard me right. Those girls know how to end a workout! You can actually see a video of it on Steph’s Instagram page (@healthychefsteph). Don’t underestimate the human deadlift – it’s just as hard as the real thing!
Once the workout finished we re-fuelled with some post workout shakes and a group photo. I had a delicious green shake filled with all the good stuff! After more talking with the other girls and a few more pictures with the photographer it was time to for me to catch the tube and head home.
Overall, I had another amazing event with JD Women and Nike. A big thanks to the Two Peas In A Bod girls, whose energy forever shines off on me!
