Top Fitness Tips From Health And Fitness Influencers

by hannahandfitness

It’s no doubt that the fitness industry has boomed in the recent years. Suddenly and still surely, social media is shedding light into the world of bloggers, influencers, personal trainers, and bloggers. Whilst this is an amazing thing I do however, believe that many people are getting caught up in different trends, unqualified training guides and unhealthy diets.

So, what exactly should you be doing?

Fitness influencer advice
Below, i’ve gathered together a few of my favourite fitness influencers from social media and have asked them for their top fitness advice. Ready?

Max Lowery

Max is a personal trainer and creator of the “2-Meal Day™” of which he claims is the simplest, most effective method of Intermittent Fasting.

“Incorporate intermittent fasting into your life, I truly believe it ‘s the missing link in our overall health and well-being. Fasting retrains your body to become fat adapted. This means you burn stored body fat for energy, rather than being dependent on sugars from food. This is empowering because, you become completely self sufficient. Not only will you lose weight, you will be FULL of energy all day long, no longer reaching for caffeine or nicotine or sugar to get you through the day. Most surprisingly you will feel less hungry. Fasting teaches you to tune into your body. You will start to understand what “Real” hunger feels like, something that occurs every 16-24 hours not every four hours. Fasting has nothing to do with starvation. It’s about giving your body what it needs, when it needs it. Just by pushing your first meal a bit later into the day you can optimise virtually every system in the body.”

Rhiannon Lambert

Rhiannon Lambert BSc MSc ANutr is a Registered Nutritionist practicing in London’s Harley Street. Having obtained first class Bachelor (BSc) and Master’s (MSc) degrees in Nutrition & Health as well as a Diploma in Nutritional Interventions for Eating Disorders, her qualified approach to nutrition has seen Rhiannon work with some of the world’s most influential people.

Her forthcoming book Re-Nourish: The Definitive Guide to Optimum Nutrition is available to pre-order on Amazon and will be released December, 2017.

“I always use the 3 R’s when it comes to fitness:

1. Re-Fuel
2. Re-Hydrate
3. Re-Cover

Without refuelling, rehydrating and recovering, your fitness goals will be harder to attain, if not all together impossible. After exercise or a workout, ensure you refuel with a protein-rich snack or meal. With our bodies being about 60% water, you must replace any fluids lost to maintain optimal brain cognition. Lastly, look forward to recovering by resting and allowing your body and muscles to repair and grow.”

Michelle – MadlyMish

“Sometimes slow and steady really does win the race. Making small changes to your lifestyle will eventually add up to huge results. Those 30 min walks, choosing fruit instead of candy, cooking meals at home etc, are healthy habits that will pay off in the long run. I know we all want instant gratification but crash dieting cannot be maintained and you usually end up in a never ending cycle of yo-yo dieting.”

If you’ve been stuck in a rut, aim for small habit changed you can be consistent with. Before you know it you will be living and maintain a healthy lifestyle with ease”

Zanna Van Dijk

Zanna is a personal trainer, a blogger, vlogger and an author to her first book, Strong which was published in December 2016.

“My main piece of advice when it comes to starting a healthy lifestyle is to not sweat the small stuff. We often get so caught up in the tiny details like what time we eat our carbohydrates or how many seconds of HIIT we are doing. In reality our focus should be set on the bigger picture. Nourishing our body with the best food we can, moving it in ways we enjoy, supporting recovering, and taking pleasure in the journey along the way. Don’t be hard on yourself, just consistently make the best choices you can!”

Steph Elswood

“My top advice for the fitness industry is: Don’t compare yourself to anyone else. That’s easier said than done I know, but if you work on you and your happiness as much as possible then no one else even matters. Your fitness journey is just that – a journey. So go at your own speed, your ability and only push yourself to YOUR maximum. Listen to your body and know when it needs rest.”

To end this post I’d just like to say a quick something, too:

This lifestyle is your own. Make sure you’re doing what you love and love what you’re doing. Ignore the trends, the go-getters, the unusual diets and live a lifestyle that works for you. Whether that be swimming 3x a week and yoga 2x a week. Whether that be lifting weights all week or boxing. Whatever it is, make sure it gives you the passion and determination you need to keep yourself going!

Remember to make healthy choices, but also pick up a chocolate bar every now and then for your own sanity! Just be smart with your choices and you’ll get there. Patience is key in this journey – don’t forget that.

A big thank you to Max, Rhiannon, Michelle, Zanna & Steph for their input into this post. Please do go check out their channels!
