Protein Berry Sorbet – Cheap & Easy!

by hannahandfitness

On the weekend I had the opportunity to work with Freshers Fitness. These guys are all about creating simple and budget friendly recipes for students – ‘Balance on a budget’ is the motto they go by. Their instagram feed shows delicious, yet cheap recipes that can be created at home for a certain price (they actually include the price of the meal and the ingredients – easy peasy. No excuses!)

I got to launch the start of their ‘Freshers fitness features’ series with my homemade Protein Berry Sorbet. It’s free from refined sugar, dairy free and vegan friendly (obviously if you opt for non-dairy protein powder). This will be one of the quickest and easiest recipes you will ever make and it’s deliciously light and perfect for the coming warmer weather.

At a cost of £2.50 you can’t give this one a miss.

Serves 2 (depending on how greedy you are)

Ingredients

1 large ripe banana
1 cup frozen berries
1 scoop protein powder (I used Motion Nutrition Coconut Whey – one of my favourites)
1/4 cup soaked oats
1 tbsp ground almonds
1 tbsp maple syrup (optional)

Method

Put all ingredients into a food processor and blend. Then leave to set in the freezer. Simple as that!

Top tip

A great way to keep fruit just before it’s going off is to freeze it – or buy it already frozen! It’s cheaper, saves wastage and is also a great way to store for frozen smoothies. I always get too much produce at my local market so freezing some of it is a great way to keep it lasting and a handy way of ensuring I have plenty of fruit for my diet.
