With the ever growing popularity of bloggers on social media, it comes to no surprise that the growth of blogging business’s are growing.
At the beginning of the year I decided to turn my blog into a proper (grown up an all) business. Yup, this blog is part of my life and living!
Over the past year or so i’ve worked my butt off to turn my dreams into a reality and slowly, but surely, it’s happening. Right now, i’m luckily enough to say that I have income coming from my blog and I’m currently working with amazing brands. In the future, it’s something i’m hoping to eventually turn into a full time business. I love what I do and to think that if one day I could call it my full time career – well, that would be damn incredible, right?!
Although, I’m  currently a full time graphic designer with the usual Dolly Parton hours of 9-5. Don’t get me wrong, I like my job right now and i’m truly grateful to have bagged a job as quickly as I did after graduating university last summer. However, once you have a glimpse of potentially turning your dreams into real life, well, it becomes somewhat an obsession. We’re always told to go after our dreams and make ourselves happy, right?!
So right now, i’m juggling a 9-5 job with my part time blog. I work during lunch hours to fit in blog posts, I stay up late into the night doing admin work for my blog and I work most weekends. It’s crazy and it’s tiring but I truly love it and i’m so determined to make it work!
The point of this post is to give you an insight of my life and to prove that it’s not impossible to live a healthy and active lifestyle whilst juggling 101 things. Life gets crazy, but it’s important to make time and maintain yourself properly. Anyway, before I digress further, let’s take a sneak peak into what would be a typical working day for me.
6am Workout
During the working week I get up everyday at 6am ready to smash a workout which typically lasts an hour. I complete all my workouts from home which is incredibly handy for me! I can literally jump straight in the shower after and get ready for work.
Working out first thing in the morning is probably my main tip for sticking to a routine (if you’re bad at it!). It allows you to get it over and done with before the day has even started and then you don’t have to think about it all day long and lose motivation! My advice would be to start going to bed slightly earlier, lay out your workout clothes for the morning and set your alarm across the other side of your bedroom. That way you can’t snooze your alarm and you’ll just have to get up!
7.30am Breakfast
After showering and getting ready for work I’m then ready to scoff down my breakfast. I typically have my breakfast after my workout and not before. This is only because i’m not hungry enough for food at 6am! You can find my secret to working out on an empty stomach here.  My post workout breakfast will 100% always be protein oats. 110g oats, 1 courgette and a scoop of protein powder topped with mixed seeds. It’s the perfect post workout meal after an intense session!
11.45am Mid-morning snack
By now, i’m at work and tapping my fingers away on the keyboard. Like I said earlier, i’m a graphic designer for an events company which means I’m sat in front of the computer all day. Not my favourite thing – sitting on my backside all day, that is. But hey ho, lots of water trips and stretches in between work are a necessity. At roughly 11.30-11.45am i’ll have my mid-morning snack which is always peanut butter and carrots. Don’t knock it until you try it! I try and squeeze in some healthy fats here to help keep me full until lunch time. It works a treat.
1.45pm LunchtimeÂ
I make sure i’ll always have something filled with protein and vegetables! Right now, I tend to have a light lunch because a heavy lunch full of carbs leaves me bloated and feeling heavy sat at my computer all day. I’ll usually have a tuna salad with spinach and mixed beans. Beans are full of essential fibre and also contain a healthy amount of carbs which don’t leave me full like bread. Whilst on my 1 hour lunch break i’ll also squeeze in some writing for my blog.
4pm Afternoon snack
A snack and a cuppa (green tea) is on the agenda before finishing things off at work. I’ll either have a handful of snacks with a rye cracker or anything from the weekend that i’ve baked. Right now, that’s one of my healthy hot cross buns!Â
5.45pm Dinner
I usually get home from work about 5.30pm and then i’ll head straight to the kitchen to whip up dinner! My dinner’s are most often repeated as i’ll meal prep at the beginning of the week but this is something i’m fine with. I’m a girl of habit! Usually i’ll have a mixed bean chilli with chicken and vegetables and finish with something sweet/refreshing with a handful of berries.
6pm Walkies
I’m really trying to rank up some extra steps and get in a little more exercise after a day of sitting on my butt so i’ll take my dog for a walk. This usually get’s me up to 10,000 (roughly) steps a day. Oh, how I wish to be more active!
6.45-8pm Blog work
During this time i’ll dedicate most of my time to my blog. This means i’ll either be doing posts, videos, recipes or sorting out my newsletter. I’ll then pop on Instagram and catch up on the day’s feed! But let’s face it, i’m always on blimmin Instagram!
8pm Evening snack
I know, I know… You’re probably thinking: God, that girl is always eating! Well, yes, I am! What can I say, I have a healthy appetite!
By now i’m usually finishing off any blog bits (or working a bit longer) and getting ready to chill out with netflix and a snack. Right now, i’m obsessed with avocado on rye bread. For me, eating a good amount of carbs just before bed sets me up for my early morning workout. It means i’m not working out completely depleted and I can last until breakfast!
10pm Bedtime
Annnddddd, I’m out!
That’s pretty much a typical working day for me! When i’m not at work, i’ll either be buried in my laptop writing up blog posts, outside filming workout videos or in the kitchen baking up another recipe. How do I juggle all of this with a social life? Well, let’s just say i’m working on it! Hahhh.

I could never work out at 6am, I am not a morning person! But I do cycle to work which takes me about 25mins and that’s my morning workout.. You are such a hard worker and so determined, just like me. At the moment I am earning some money from my blog but it’s not enough. However, I am leaving my full-time job this month to spend more time on my blog (and hopefully earn more money!) but at the same time I will also try and find some freelance work (I am a digital marketer). You just have to continue following your dreams, I wish you good luck!
I envy you! I’m so glad you’ve shared this. It’s so refreshing seeing people go after that they really want in life rather than just settling! I hope it works out for you and remember, never give up! 🙂
