With brow lamination slowly becoming one of the new hyped up beauty trends on social media, I decided to give it a whirl and here’s what I think of my new bushy, fluffy brows one week later…
After being left traumatised from my first ever brow wax when I was 16 years old, I’ve only had my brows professionally seen to once after. And despite my minimal eyebrow treatments, I’ve always been left with red and angry spots after.
So over the years you could say my brows have had my undivided attention with a few plucks here and there. And while I don’t hate them, it’s certainly taken me a few years to make the most of my coarse and dark eyebrows and let’s be honest, if I could avoid penciling them in every day to look half awake, then believe me I would.
Once I saw influencers, celebrities and other beauty bloggers raving about the new brow lamination trend, I decided that this could possibly be my new thing. Fluffy brows that stay upwards? Heck yes.
What is brow lamination?
Brow lamination is simply the process of restricting the brow hairs to keep them in a desired shape. Many opt for their shape to be upwards to achieve a fluffy, fuller looking brow. It’s the perfect treatment for anyone who struggles with coarse hair, any gaps in-between or for a groomed brushed-up look.
After plenty of research (I’m not just going to trust any ol’ Tim, Dick and Harry with my face), I settled on my local hairdressers, Wink, who also happen to qualify in beauty too. Once the appointment was penciled in, I left my brows well and truly alone for a week. No plucking, no trimming, no nothing. Let the beasts run wild, eh?
The day of my appointment I left my brows completely make-up free and on arrival Harley removed all traces of make-up, moisturiser and other potions and lotions from my brow area.
“Brow lamination is a process of restructuring the brow hairs to keep them in a desired shape.”
The process itself splits into two parts. To start with, cream is applied to the brows that breaks down the bonds in the hairs so they can be manipulated upwards. This is then followed by a second cream that rebuilds the bonds and sets the hairs.
Harley then finished my treatment by tinting and waxing my brows for an even more defined look. Although my eyebrows are already quite dark, it still makes a big difference.
The treatment itself (including the tint and wax) lasted roughly 40 minutes and as soon as I saw the results in the mirror, I loved it. Straight away my brows were already looking sharper, bolder and most importantly, lifted. Yay to fluffy brows.
The best part? I haven’t applied any make-up to them for over a week. It’s been 8 days since my brow lamination treatment and the only thing my brow routine consists of at the moment is brushing them upwards after my morning face cleanse. That’s it.
Would I recommend brow lamination? Absolutely. To every female soul who exists. Truth be told, I couldn’t be anymore in love with my bold and fluffy brows if I tried.
Lastly, for any local readers in the Portsmouth or Fareham area, I couldn’t recommend Wink enough for all your beauty needs. I’ve never been one who looks forward to putting my hair, skin and face in the hands of others, but the gorgeous team at Wink couldn’t be anymore amazing. Go on, treat yourself ladies.
