Who says you can’t have a little fun with your date night ideas during isolation? Not me! In fact, now is the perfect time to get a little creative and have some fun with your partner and if you’re anything like me, it’s an excuse to whip out the gadgets and games!
Before we went into lockdown, GiffGaff kindly gifted Doug and I with some essential goodies for a cosy night in and because of that, it’s inspired me to share with you some date night ideas for the upcoming weeks…
Dinner and music
Everyone loves food and music right? Turn the TV off, light the candles, turn on the music (we like to use our Marley Wireless Speaker*) and order in your favourite weekend treats. For us, that means an evening of 90’s classics (sorry Doug), a Sushi feast from M&S* – swiftly followed by their Yumnut for dessert – and an evening of chatter.
Whip the games out
Luckily for Doug, I’ve grown up playing the PlayStation so I’m never one to turn down an evening of Grand Theft Auto or Crash Bandicoot.
If a console isn’t your kinda jam though, why not go old school and whip the board games out? That, or find a mini-game on Facebook Messenger and challenge each other 1to1.
Saturday night TV
If you’ve had a pretty busy week with work (amen to that), then maybe a quiet evening on the sofa in front of your favourite Saturday night TV is the perfect date night for you both?
Before lockdown hit us, Doug and I loved catching our weekly fix of The Voice – sponsored by GiffGaff – with yes, you guessed it, the feast above… Sushi and Yumnuts!
Zoom friends & family
Why not go on a double date with your friends and family? With lockdown in full force, Zoom is the perfect way to stay in touch with your loved ones and who says you can’t enjoy a night in with your mates… plonked on the couch virtually opposite you?
Don’t have a phone that’s up to scratch? Don’t worry, GiffGaff can provide you with a refurbished phone (for less) here.
TikTok – I had to
I hate to admit it, but I downloaded the app the other day and Doug and I are already planning what videos we’re going to have fun with this weekend. Hahaha – I’m cringing as I write this.
Even if you don’t share them with the social world, it’s still a little bit of fun you both can have behind closed doors!
Have a picnic in the garden
There’s no denying the fact that we’ve been blessed with pretty cheery weather this past week, so why not make the most of it and have a picnic in the garden? All you need is a cosy picnic blanket, a few cushions and your favourite grub. To make it extra special, hang some fairy lights, light some candles and play that funky music boy (sorry, couldn’t help myself).
Have a quiz night
Now is the perfect time to see if you know every single little detail about your partner. Hop on google, search for ‘best quizzes for couples’ and take your pick! And try not to kill each other.
