If you love all things beauty, then you’ve probably heard people discussing the benefits of LED facial light therapy. As a skincare junkie I’d like to think I’ve tried and tested a lot of skincare treatments, especially when it comes to congestion and spots, but up until a few months ago, I had never considered LED facial light therapy.
Despite its name sounding a little intimidating, LED light therapy is a non-invasive facial treatment which is safe and UV-free. It works by targeting the top layers of the skin, stimulating natural cell turnover process which in turn, can help with a number of skin concerns.
Seeing as I’ve recently been struggling with jawline spots and increased blackheads (I swear blackheads are the devil), I decided to finally try LED facial light therapy in the hope that it would finally solve – or at least help – all of my skincare problems. Here’s how I got on…
What is LED facial light therapy?
This revolutionary skincare treatment from Dermalux uses a non-invasive LED light that targets the cells in your skin to encourage a rejuvenated look and feel to your complexation.
Not only does it visibly improve your complexion, but it can also actively resolve blemishes and scars to the skin caused by acne or rosacea, meaning that your will feel confident after your treatment.
Dermalux LED facial light therapy offers three different light treatments, depending on the results you are looking to achieve with LED light facial therapy. Personally, I was invested in this treatment for redness and scarring from under the skin spots.
How does LED facial light therapy work?
Dermalux LED facial light therapy has a course of treatment using either blue, red or yellow light. Each light offers a variety of benefits that encourage better skin regeneration, enhanced collagen production and prevents the signs of ageing.
Top tip: when looking for a safe and effective LED facial light therapy brand, you will want to opt for a brand such as Dermalux due to its proven clinical results and long-lasting results after a course of treatment.Â
My experience with LED facial light therapy
I’ve had LED facial light therapy twice now over the past few months and after both visits, I have seen noticeable results. During my first visit I was having quite a bad episode of jawline spots, spots under the skin and redness. After analysing my skin, my therapist recommended a facial to help exfoliate and clean the skin, and then to finish with LED light therapy to help fight the bacteria and calm the redness by encouraging skin cell turnover.
I’ll be honest, results aren’t visible straight away, but after a few days my skin began to look fresher, calmer and less inflamed.
On my second visit my skin was certainly looking better, but I still had visible scarring from some nasty under-the-skin jawline spots (the other devil). So, during this treatment my main interest was targeting the redness and helping reduce this as much as possible. Again, the results showed a few days later and since then (touch wood), my skin has noticeably been a lot clearer.
Overall, while it may be hard to believe that the bright lights of the LED facial light may be doing anything, it’s clear to see that the results come a few days later. So patience is key!
Safe and pain free skin care
The Dermalux LED light therapy device means that healthier looking skin doesn’t have to be a painful, or uncomfortable process. Even better, LED light therapy is one of the safest options on the medical market for treating skin conditions like acne and rosacea. Using wavelength of LED light, the Dermalux machine promotes the repair of skin cells, rather than trying to erase damage or blemishes on the skin with harsh exfoliation or heavily chemical based products – which is pretty important to me!
Most interestingly with LED facial light therapy (and the bit I love the most), is that blue light can encourage the release of oxygen. By doing this, the light helps to erase bacteria that promotes acne. Not only that, but the skin cells energy reacts positively to red LED light, absorbing it into layers of tissue beneath the skins surface layer and increasing the levels of collagen the skin produces.Â
And last but not least, infrared light targets the blood’s circulation beneath the skins surface layer which enhances the performances of the skins blood flow. This allows for a glowing complexion (yes please), as well a minimalising signs of irritation from products or exposure to different environments.
