Morning Staple: Protein ZOATS

by hannahandfitness

Firstly, can we just appreciate the shiny spoon pool of nut butter above? And secondly, in case you’re wondering, then yes, that is courgette in my bowl of morning oats.

If you haven’t heard of zoats yet (where have you been hiding?) then you’re in for a treat. Trust me.  Zoats have slowly become the next big thing since kale. It’s tasteless, it’s a great way to sneak in your greens and fibre and it adds crazy amount of volume to your food. More food for less? Yes please.

I love zoats so much so that this is practically my breakfast every.single.day. No kidding. With the amount of choice for your toppings it so easy to create different versions of this one recipe. For me, this particular recipe suits all my needs. It’s filling, it’s high in protein (aiding my muscle growth and recovery), it has essential carbs and it’s packed full of nutrients and vitamins.

This is the perfect way to start the day.

Ingredients

100g oats (or to your desire)
20ml water
1 medium courgette
1 scoop Vanilla MissFitsNutrition protein powder
1 Banana
Cinnamon
1 tsp CreativeNature chia seeds
1 tsp Pip&Nut almond butter
Frozen Berries

Method

In a bowl add your oats, protein powder and chia seeds and mix with water. You should have enough water so that everything combines together. Grate 1 medium courgette and add to your bowl of oats. Mix all ingredients together.

Next, place your bowl in the microwave on high for 2 and a half minutes. Meanwhile, slice your banana into coins. Once the microwave has ‘pinged’ stir your oats and add half of your banana coins. Sprinkle with cinnamon, and pop back into the microwave for another minute.

When the last minute has finished, stir your oats again and top with the rest of your banana coins, frozen berries and almond butter. Whoalah!

Try it, eat it, love it and show me it!
