With Father’s Day fast approaching you’d be a jerk not to snatch up these pretty snazzy CrossFit gifts below. Being the avid CrossFitter myself, I thought I’d round up a few of my favourite CrossFit products, merchandise, books and accessories to help you be the hero this year and pick out the perfect Father’s Day gift for your CrossFit fanatic Dad. Whatever your budget and whatever your size, I’ve RX’ed this round up of CrossFit gifts with a little help from the men at my box. I asked them what they’d like to receive themselves for Father’s Day so you can bet ya bottom squat that this list is going to be a perfect rep. Now despite the title, this guide is pretty much suited to any CrossFitter/fitness fanatic…
Training AccessoriesÂ
I thought we’d start off with the most useful gifts first. Now, no matter how long your dads been doing CrossFit for, you can’t go wrong with a few accessories such as grips, belts and ropes. I’ve just got myself a pair of Picsil grips (3 holes and 2 holes) myself, and amongst the many recommendations from the guys at my box, grips were top of the list. These are perfect for hanging off the rig  with and being an overall CrossFit monkey with. In fact, the Picsil grips are the best grips I’ve tried out of the other few. I 100% recommend these if you think your dad will benefit from them.
As well as the grips, I also got myself a weight lifting belt and a jump rope from Picsils too. Again, this was another popular recommendation from the guys and to be honest, you can’t go wrong with any of these options. If I had to pick though, I would say the grips or jump rope would be the most helpful – dependant on your Father’s interests and erm, gymnastic ability. Damn those double unders.
As for the jump rope, if you’ve got the budget then I really recommend the Picsil Bee jump rope ($45.95). With it being the only self-adjusting rope in the world as well as being very light and extremely fast, it makes it a very popular jump rope option. I’ve only had my Bee rope for a few days but compared to the ropes at my box, it’s as light as a bee hummingbird and very, very fast.
If however, you’re looking for something a little cheaper, I’d recommend the ABS 2.0, which according to the Picsil website, is meant to be more than just a jump rope whereas the ABS is purely for beginners. If in doubt, give the website a good ol’ read. Knee sleeves and strength wraps were also high on the recommendation list so give those a nosey whilst you’re at it!
Books + TV
Whether your dad’s a bit of a bookworm of not, I truly believe that if they’re interested in the subject (aka, CrossFit), then they’ll read it. All of these have been recommended to me and perhaps when I’m less busy and able to get my head out of my laptop, I’ll have time to read one or two soon. As for the Netflix films/series, I can totally vouch for those because I quite clearly have more time for Netflix than I do reading. Opps…
- Chasing Excellence
- Becoming a supple leopard
- FirstÂ
- How I Became The Fittest Women On Earth
- IOU for Dottir: My Journey to Becoming a Two-Time Crossfit Games Champion
- The Redeemed and The Dominant: Fittest On Earth (DVD)
- Fittest On Earth (Netflix)
- Froning: The Fittest Man In History (Netflix)
Socks
Is your dad really your dad if you don’t buy him a pair of socks or some form of underwear for Father’s Day? Now I don’t know about you but when it comes to socks, I have no intention of buying them for myself, but when I do receive them as a gift, well, they’ve gotta be a pretty damn sexy pair of socks. That’s for sure. So the ultimate CrossFitter socks? Stance socks. Not only the comfiest socks, but the snazziest too. From geeky dad (Star Wars), to smart dad (the stripes), to CrossFit dad (performance socks), there really are a pair for everyone.
I have the performance socks myself and since that first cinderella sock slip (not quite a glass slipper but hey) I don’t think I’ll ever look at a sock the same way. Stance’s performance socks are fresh, dry, and durable, no matter what the WOD is. The men’s performance socks also have FEEL360, a proprietary fibre technology which revolutionises comfort. Sweeeeeet.
If you’re dad’s not quite into his socks (erm, may I ask why?), you can also take a peep at Stance’s underwear section. They’ve got a serious collection of funky patterned boxer shorts and if they’re anything like the socks, then I doubt your dad will ever want to take them off (but let’s hope so, ay).
ClothingÂ
Another one you can’t go wrong with… workout clothes! Let’s start with the recommendations shall we? First up we have Bear Strength which, according to the guys, is a firm bet. The t-shirts are comfy, the designs are ‘sweet’ and they’re CrossFit approved. Pricing starts from £25 – £42, I’d say that’s pretty reasonable for a t-shirt that will (let’s face it) get worn to death because apparently, men don’t like to shop like us girls do.
Another popular brand in our gym is HSTL. Made however, due to their popularity (they’re going to be the next Gymshark I betcha) everything is sold out which is a bit of a bugger. However, if you don’t mind doing an IOU then now’s the time to get your dad in on the next new thing. Plus, if you or your dad don’t follow TeamRICHEY on YouTube already then do. You can thank me later.
KITBOX also have a fab range of clothing perfect for us CrossFitter’s. I too can vouch for their clothing as I’ve tried out their compression leggings, short shorts and a very supportive and very comfortable sports bra. Oh so comfortable. I’ve had a quick look at their tee’s and here are my favourite CrossFit style one’s…
Also a few more recommendations from the guys at my box. This time from Rogue…
Bits n’ bobs
In my opinion the bit n’ bobs are often the best kind of gifts. I’m going to start with my absolute favourite thing right now and that’s my KITBOX training diary which I received last week and have been obsessed with it ever since. It really is a little gem to keep track of your CrossFit/fitness progress. It includes a day by day diary where you can track your WODs, add in a few extra notes, record your PB’S, gym records and goals and, at the back of the diary you’ll find all your benchmark WOD’s and a place to record your personal records for every exercise necessary. A CrossFitter’s dream. Trust me. For £11.99, it really is one of the most thoughtful Father Day’s gift.
Another gem on the KITBOX website that I’d recommend (and that was recommended to me) is the hand care kit, because whether they like to admit it or, men are just as concerned at the state of their CrossFit hands as us ladies are! I mean, it can 100% affect your performance if your hands are in absolute bits after a WOD so why not indulge in a little self care?
If you’re a CrossFitter yourself, or simply into fitness, you’ll also know the importance of coffee and protein. The ultimate fuel for the CrossFit athlete – besides your carbs and healthy fats – let’s not forget about those now shall we? When it comes to the coffee, you’ve got to try out Contact Coffee Co – a very popular coffee brand in my box – and when it comes to protein, you absolutely have to give Vivo Life a go – vegan or not.
If you’ve been following me for a while now then you’ll know that Vivo Life are the only protein company I’ve used and have done for roughly 2 years now. Out of all the vegan protein powder’s I’ve tried and tested (and believe me, there’s been a few), Vivo are 100% the most outstanding. Why? Read my review post here to find out. I also have a code, HANNAH10 if you’d like to use it on your next purchase. Winner winner.
Lastly, time to end with some cheesy – but absolutely necessary – CrossFit accessories…
I’m not usually a fan of cheesy mugs and slogan tee’s but there’s no doubting that once you’re a part of the CrossFit family, it’s 100% acceptable to wear all the CrossFit cheese. Including the barbell mug, my favourite t-shirt of the round up and some CrossFit coasters for the man cave.
