Why you need to try a Lauren Gleisberg Challenge

by hannahandfitness

So, the title is a pretty big statement right? But after almost a year of completing Lauren Gleisberg’s workouts and challenges from her website I thought it was time to share exactly why I go back to her every time. Lauren’s workouts are a combination of weight lifting, cardio and HIIT. You’re provided with a guide to follow throughout the week and each day focuses on different muscle types.

I first stumbled across Lauren’s website at the end of  last summer when I slowly became intrigued with weight lifting. I was bored of constant cardio, resistance sessions and a lot of HIIT (a pretty naive and uneducated Hannah at the time). At the current time I was completing BBG with added workouts but I was looking for something new – something exciting to keep me engaged. So, thanks to Pinterest I came across Lauren and her free workouts that are found on her website and I went for it. I still incorporated BBG into my plan – just not as much.

It wasn’t until late last year (November – I think?) where I actually took one of her challenges – LGFitmas. I loved it! I loved the workouts, the intensity, the soreness and mostly – the results. I no longer hated the most hated body part of mine – my arms. And honestly, I never thought I would ever learn to love them. But, thanks to the introduction of weights my arms had started to transform during the challenge. They became defined, toned and strong. However, because of the timing of the challenge (Christmas – aka, FOOD) I believe my results weren’t as good as they could have been and this was something I  expected and I was 100% ok with that. Having a good body should never over rule your happiness and enjoyment.

Since the LGFitmas challenge I have completed every challenge provided by Lauren and not once have I ever felt under challenged or bored. I honestly really do enjoy them and always dread the day they end! (Like, now what am I going to do?!)

What do I love most about the challenges?

The guide They are SO easy to follow. I love it when things are made easy for me – I’m pretty lazy like that. In Lauren’s guides you can find images of each workout, the number of reps, sets and the timing for your rest period. The last thing I want to be doing is googling what a certain workout is! So for me, pictures are perfect.

However, the new Challenge (which started this week), LGSummerFitcation takes the challenges and guides to a whole new level. The guide is simply beautiful. The design is slick, bold and elegant. The use of it’s simplistic colour palette (major designer geekiness going on here) just completes the look of the guide. Also, the guide is actually very formative. It provides you with possibly every bit of information you need to know. Out of all the guides I’ve used before (BBG, Crush60 etc..) this is by far my favourite.

The community – I’ve found that being a part of a community helps my motivation MASSIVELY. If you remember, a few months ago I started the Crush60 guide and whilst I loved the guide itself and the challenge I found myself not sticking to it because the community wasn’t as strong as the previous one’s i’ve been a part of. I didn’t have much communication (if any at all) with other Crush60 members which unfortunately meant that I had no motivation or support from others who were on the same programme. Because of this – I got bored.

But, the support and motivation from Lauren’s community is ammmmazing. The amount of friendships I’ve made because of this community is kind of unbelievable. I also love the photo challenges too – each day Lauren provides you with a photo challenge to upload on to your Instagram account to keep you involved with the community (great idea) and boost your motivation.

You can check out the community now through these hashtags – LGAccountability, LGSummerFitcation, LGSweatSeshSelfie.

The support from Lauren – Out of all the guides I’ve used before (apart from Crush60) I’ve never had quite the support from the owner of the guides themselves. Lauren is amazing. She comment’s on your Instagram posts, replies to your questions, goes out of her way to send you a motivational message on your challenge posts, responds to your SnapChats…  Basically, you can have a friendship with Lauren. Now, this may sound silly but it really isn’t. It’s amazing how many people (owners of the guides) will ignore your comments (on Instagram, Twitter etc) when you have a question or comment about their guides. I think it’s massively important for these guys to remember that without their clients (technically what we are – or customers) they simply wouldn’t have a business. Building a relationship is SO important.

So here’s a little information about the current challenge and the weight training plans…

The training plans offer both home and gym workout versions. Both of which are promised to bring the very best.

The weight training guide offers 30+ pages of background information, teaching you everything from how to activate different types of muscle fibers to the most effective cardio choices, rep ranges best suited for women and hypertrophy (muscle building) and much more!

The weight training programme is perhaps the best, most effective training split and workout to build muscle, reduce body fat and sculpt to reveal your fit and lean body. These weight training workouts WORK! You’re body, booty, and best self will prove it!

Overall, the plan contains 8 weeks worth of workouts plus an optional 4 week beginner phase. Both plans follow the same schedule, so YOU choose to workout at home, in the gym or both! The guides are also probably one of the cheapest guides around too – $12. I mean, you can’t fault that can you?

There you have it! My fitness schedule for the next 8 weeks and why I always choose to go back to Lauren. My first tip would be to have an Instagram stalk of Lauren herself (@laurengleisberg) and the community. See what everybody else has to say about the challenges, how they’re finding it and also if they enjoy it.

Let me know if you try it or hoolah if you’re already a LG girl!

Hannah,
x

Great post! I have been doing BBG but I think Lauren’s guides might be better for me. I love her personality and I love that she is from the United States- feels closer! Have you tried out her meal plan/cook book?

Hi Sally!

Her personality is amazing – so down to earth and friendly! I have tried her meal plan yes but I tend to not stick to plans and just eat healthy 🙂

Hi Hannah,

I decided to purchase Lauren’s workouts but I never received an email with my PDF of the workouts. Have you had this issue before? I emailed her but I’m not sure how fast she responds.

Thank you!

Hi Tara

Did you ever get your guide in the end? I bought one yesterday and I didn’t get the email with the guide either. I have emailed her but no reply yet.

Hi Kiara,

I would perhaps wait until tomorrow to contact her again as it is the weekend and may not be automated email.

If not, contact her through her Instagram @laurengleisberg xx

Hi Lauren,

Thanks sharing – Just had a look at her websites, very reasonable prince! I was just wondering which plan are you following? I was also wondering if the plan includes the Hiit workouts or just says to do Hiit those days etc? Thanks 🙂
